Applications are invited for a PhD position in Solar Energy within the BEAMS (Bio-, Electro- And Mechanical Systems) department of the Applied Sciences Faculty at the Free University of Brussels. The position offered is focused on developing improvements in existing PV panel installations in Belgium. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in a subject relevant for the project (power electronics, renewable sources, electrical energy). The appointment is for a period of three years.

Eligibility:
-Applicants should have a Master’s degree in a subject relevant for the project (power electronics, renewable sources, electrical energy).
-Good command of English is a requisite, knowledge of French will be taken into account.

Scholarship Description: The Free University of Brussels has 13 faculties, schools and specialized institutes that cover all the disciplines, closely combining academic input and research. The topics developed at the Energy group of the BEAMS department comprise power system protection and stability, distributed generation, wind energy conversion systems, solar PV generation, design and modeling of electrical machines and drives, and fault detection and tolerance of electrical drives among others.
