Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen is inviting applications for a PhD scholarship in Plant Molecular Biology. The position is available for a 3-year period for applicants holding a relevant masters degree or for a 4-year period for applicants who are already enrolled or are accepted to be enrolled at one of the Facultyâs masters programmes. The starting salary is currently at a minimum DKK 305,291 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 42,171). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The application deadline is 4 August 2014.

Scholarship Description: Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship within âplant molecular biologyâ commencing 1 December 2014 or soon thereafter. The PhD scholarship is part of the interdisciplinary research programme âPlants for a Changing Worldâ. The project is funded by the UCPH 2016 Excellence Programme for Interdisciplinary Research. The programme undertakes research in the societal acceptance, economic, legal and ethical aspects of using genetically modified plants and chemical agents for cultivating plants in environments becoming increasingly hostile due to e.g. climate changes. The programme also includes research in and development of genetically modified plants and chemical agents enabling cultivation of crops in such environments. The project consists of six work packages (WP), WP1: Economic preferences, decisions and willingness to change, WP2: The precautionary principle and the principle of benefit sharing, WP3: Legitimate policy choices, WP4: Biofortification, WP5: Abiotic stress: Soil salinity and WP6: Biotic stress: Combating microbial infections.

Duration of award(s): The position is available for a 3-year period for applicants holding a relevant master´s degree or for a 4-year period for applicants who are already enrolled or are accepted to be enrolled at one of the Faculty´s master´s programmes.Â
What does it cover? The position will be filled according to the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. The starting salary is currently at a minimum DKK 305,291 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 42,171). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.Â
