2014 George Alexander Foundation Scholarship at RMIT University in Australia

RMIT University offers George Alexander Foundation Scholarship of $7500 per annum for a maximum of two years and training in an accredited leadership program in Australia. To be eligible for this scholarship applicant must be a degree student and must have: completed one year of your degree and not previously completed a degree. As part of this scholarship, you will undertake an accredited leadership program and each year contribute at least 15 hours of volunteer work. The aim of the George Alexander Foundation Scholarship is to assist students who can demonstrate exceptional academic ability, the will to succeed, leadership potential and/or community involvement. The application deadline is 22 November 2013.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
-be an Australian citizen
-be enrolled full time at RMIT in a diploma or degree program
-have at least two years of your degree to complete (at a full time enrolment rate)
-achieve good academic results
-show initiative and commitment in your academic or personal life
-show leadership potential.
-If you are a diploma student you must:be commencing a program with a duration of two or more years.
-If you are a degree student you must have: completed one year of your degree and not previously completed a degree.
-Postgraduate students are ineligible to apply.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Australia can apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Description: If you have academic ability, leadership potential, a passion for community involvement and the will to succeed, this scholarship can provide assistance towards your living and study costs. The aim of the George Alexander Foundation Scholarship is to assist students who can demonstrate exceptional academic ability, the will to succeed, leadership potential and/or community involvement. George Alexander was an engineer who studied industrial management and executive training at RMIT. To apply for this scholarship, you must be a full-time student commencing your first year of TAFE, or your second year of higher education in a program of two or more years in duration in 2014. You must have at least two years left of your program to study. You must also be an Australian citizen to apply. If successful, you will receive $7500 per annum for a maximum of two years, to assist with your living and educational expenses. You will also receive a minimum of five hours of leadership training. You will be required to contribute 15 volunteer hours per year in community activities.

Selection criteria: If you are a recipient of the George Alexander Foundation Scholarship, you  agree to:

-volunteer for 15 hours per year
-undertake 5 hours of leadership training per year
-promote the value of the Scholarship both within and outside the University
-participate in a network of George Alexander Foundation recipients, with a focus on academic opportunities and community service, as appropriate
-only use the scholarship money for accommodation, living and study costs related to my program.
-are required to have a GPA equal to or above 2, which will be reviewed yearly. If you fail to maintain a GPA of equal to 2 or above for two consecutive semesters your scholarship will be terminated.
-are ineligible to take a leave of absence or study part-time
-typically will not be eligible to receive any other scholarship while in receipt of this scholarship.
