The University of Sydney is providing postgraduate scholarship in the field of Humanities & Social Sciences and Health Sciences. This opportunity is open to both national and international applicants with a relevant degree in Medicine, Philosophy, Law, Public Health or the Social Sciences (Sociology, Anthropology, Politics or the Health Humanities), Biology or Biochemistry (BSc Hons/Masters). The scholarship research title is âPostgraduate Scholarship in Ethics/Law in the Centre for Research Excellence in Tuberculosis Control (TB-CRE)â. The scholarship will provide a full time stipend of $25,392 per annum (tax exempt) for up to 3 years. Application should be submitted till 6th December 2013.

Eligibility: Applicants may be domestic or international students. Please note this scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students (which is approximately 39,000AUD per annum).

Scholarship Description: The TB-CRE is an interdisciplinary centre of research excellence funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council over 5 years. TB-CRE supports world-class research aimed to improve coordination between and strengthen existing research initiatives on public health interventions, epidemiological and basic science approaches to TB control. The next generation of tuberculosis researchers will be fostered through the national and international collaborations of the centre. PhD scholars will work on a specific project and will participate actively in the meetings and activities of the TB-CRE and be part of a diverse and dynamic academic community with an interest in all aspects of tuberculosis control.

What does it cover? The scholarship will provide a full?time stipend of $25,392 per annum (tax?exempt) is available for up to 3 years (successful applicants in the full-time stipend category will be encouraged to secure additional scholarship funding and transfer to the top-up scheme ASAP.
Selection criteria:  Preference will be given to applicants who have skills in empirical research methods relevant to their discipline and who have a research proposal that is judged to be of relevance to the CRE and that is likely to further the interests of people with TB in the Asia-Pacific region.
