The MRC-Asthma UK Center in Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma is inviting applications for three fully funded PhD studentships (1yr plus 3-yr) to start in October 2014. The studentships will be funded for 4 years, on a starting bursary of £17,500 per annum and tuition fees at the Home/EU rate. In their first year, successful students will undertake either a 1 year full-time MSc in Immunology at Kingâs, including a 6-month laboratory-based research project within the Centre; or a MRes in Biomedical Research at Imperial College London, including two 6-month laboratory based research projects. Application must be submitted via email by 6th December 2013.
Study Subject(s): Studentships are awarded in the areas of basic and clinical science that have direct relevance to the development of novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of asthma.
Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing PhD research programme at Kingâs College London and Imperial College London in UK.

Eligibility:-Home and EU candidates only. Applicants must hold (or expect to obtain) a first or upper second-class honors (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject.

Scholarship Description: The MRC-Asthma UK Center in Allergic Mechanisms of Asthma is a partnership between the Medical Research Council, Asthma UK, Imperial College London, Kingâs College London and partner NHS Trusts to advance our understanding of the pathogenesis of asthma. This provides an outstanding opportunity for high-calibre PhD students to train in areas of basic and clinical science that have direct relevance to the development of novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of asthma. In their first year, successful students will undertake either a 1 year full-time MSc in Immunology at Kingâs, obtaining a foundation in cellular, molecular and clinical immunology and including a 6-month laboratory-based research project within the Centre; or a MRes in Biomedical Research at Imperial College London, including two 6-month laboratory based research projects. There is also the opportunity to do an MRes in Molecular Biophysics at Kingâs.
