As government is the largest founder for scholarship programs for working mothers and single parents though there are many reliable and achievable college scholarship and grant programs for single mom funded by private institutions , colleges and universities for affording college education. It is very difficult for working mother to return to or attend school when they are the only provider for their family. The list given below provides you the information about the scholarships given by different organizations and universities for single parents and working mothers to financially help them by offering various scholarships. Hereâs a list of scholarships and college grants aimed for working /single parents and mothers.
Single Parent Scholarship Program at University of Wisconsin- -Eau Claire
Applicants must be currently-enrolled UW-Eau Claire students, in good academic standing with the potential for academic and career success, a single custodial parent with dependent children, and demonstrate financial need not met by traditional forms of financial assistance. Preference is given to female returning students. Variable Number Awarded Yearly: Varies depending on funding.
Womenâs Opportunity Awards
Provide the primary financial support for her dependents (including children, spouse, siblings and/or parents).Demonstrate financial need. Are enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program. Applicants must be motivated to achieve their educational and career goals. Reside in one of Soroptimist International of the Americasâ member countries or territories. Have not previously been the recipient of a Soroptimist Womenâs Opportunity Award; are not a Soroptimist member, employee of Soroptimist or immediate family of either
Bruce, Susan Single Parent Scholarship at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Applicant must be a single parent, currently enrolled at UW-Eau Claire. Applicant should need financial assistance and have potential for success in academics and career. Student must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office.
Dorothy Riess Scholarship at University of Toledo in USA
Scholarship is for single mothers pursing an undergraduate degree at the University of Toledo. Preference will be given to active participants of Momâs House at 2505 Franklin Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43610. Recipients not involved with Momâs House shall have their extracurricular activity taken into consideration. Must be a U.S. citizen residing in Lucas County and its contiguous counties. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.2 Financial need will be considered.
Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Pulaski County
Applicants who are selected as SPSF recipients will be eligible to receive $900 each semester in which they are enrolled (fall, spring, summer) for a total of $2,700 per academic year. Funds may be used for tuition, textbooks, approved supplies, rent, mortgage, utilities, transportation, medical, dental or prescription costs, groceries, diapers, childcare, and membership dues to professional organizations. Â SPSF recipients participate in a strong mentoring program and at least one workshop or activity each semester.
Womenâs Independence Scholarship Program (WISP
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a woman who is a direct survivor of intimate partner abuse. While we abhor abuse from any source, our effort is in assisting those women who are survivors of partner abuse. The primary intent of the WISP program is to assist women who have been parted from an abusive partner for a minimum of one year. Women who have been parted from their batterers for more than five years may also apply. However, funding for these individuals may be limited.
Smith, Ken and Mary Single Parent Scholarship at University of Wisconsin
Scholarships are available for single parent students, freshman through senior with a financial need. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required for freshmen entering out of high school. In the case of renewal for a previous recipient, an acceptable academic performance during the previous scholarship year(s) as determined by the scholarship selection committee is required. The scholarship can be renewed four times by the same student, for a maximum of five total years.
Linda Smiley Perseverance Award at the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences in USA
Applicant must be a junior or a senior or a graduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Must be enrolled at least a three-fourths of full-time enrollment. Preference will be given to a single mother
The University of Wisconsin â" Madison Scholarships to Single Parents
Single Parent Scholarships are available for newly admitted or currently enrolled UW-Madison undergraduate, graduate or professional students who are single parents. U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen or permanent resident are eligible for apply. Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of nine undergraduate credits or six graduate credits (three for dissertators) each semester.
Agnes Drexler Kujawa Memorial Scholarship for single mother at University of Wisconsin
Up to $5,000 in scholarship awards will be granted. The maximum individual award is $1,000. For awards in excess of $500, half of the award will be held at the Cashierâs Office each semester for credit against that semesterâs tuition. Applicants must be female single parents having legal physical custody of one or more minor children. Applicants must be legally separated, divorced, widowed or never married.
Ken Gross Scholarship at Bloomsburg University in USA
Full-time adult student who is a single parent; financial need considered in addition to the studentâs academic record. Renewable if satisfactory progress is maintained. Pending donorâs availability, agree to attend the spring BU scholarship luncheon and reception with him or her.
R.O.S.E. Scholarship
The R.O.S.E. Fund (Regaining Oneâs Self Esteem) is a New England non-profit, chartered to break the silence and the cycle of domestic violence (DV) and teen dating violence and abuse (TDVA).Weâre focused on transforming the lives of survivors that have physical reminders of their abusive past. In partnership with our medical affiliates we provide female survivors of domestic abuse with access to medical and dental reconstructive procedures to help them to regain their self-esteem.
The Sister Fund
The Sister Fund is a private foundation that supports and gives voice to the marginalized, especially women working for healing in the world from a faith-based perspective. We are committed to woman-centered philanthropy and the empowerment of faith-based women, because we believe the energy of Love heals. The Sister Fund provides grants, technical support, communication tools and networking opportunities in a variety of forms.
Jeanette Rankin Foundation
Jeannette Rankin Foundation hands out scholarships to women age 35 or older who show an interest in higher education. During that time, 500 plus women have earned awards to attend the college of their choice through Jeanette Rankin scholarships. These offers are for women pursuing a four-year degree. The Foundation hands out about 15 scholarships a year, with the amount of the award dependent on financial need. No, Jeanette Rankin Foundation scholarships are not targeted at moms, but if youâre a mom 35 or older, you qualify to apply for a scholarship from the Jeanette Rankin Foundation.
Transamerica Endowed Scholarship at Kirkwood Community College
Amount: Varies per year. Applicant must be a single parent (indicate you meet the criteria).Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Applicant must reapply for one additional year of support. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Executive Women International, Phoenix Chapter ASIST (Adult Students in Scholastic Transition) Scholarship
This scholarship is open to adult students at transitional points in their lives. Applicants may be single parents, individuals just entering the workforce or displaced workers. Refer to the criteria listed below. Applicant must be an Arizona resident. Applicant must demonstrate Financial Need. Preference will be given to female  applicants who work full or part-time while attending ASU West and should have minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to âreturning studentsâ i.e. those who are returning to university-level studies following an absence.
Enrollment Scholarships at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in USA
Applicant must be single parent with one or more dependent children in the household. Scholarships offered through A-B Tech, the A-B Tech Foundation, and outside organizations. Additional information is available through the Financial Aid Office.
San Diego City College Foundation the Associated Students/Single Parent
The Associated Students of San Diego City College have pledged funds for those single parents attending City College who are members of the Associated Student Government. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
