The International Visegrad Fund in coop­er­a­tion with the Open Society Archivum Budapest offers 12 international scholarships to selected schol­ars, researchers or jour­nal­ists from the Visegrad Group (V4) coun­tries and 3 fel­low­ships annu­ally to non-V4 applicants. Applicants will be awarded a scholarship of €2,000 for pursuing research at the Open Society Archives (OSA) at the Central European University in Budapest. Study Subject (s): Research top­ics for aca­d­e­mic year 2013/2014: Welfare poli­cies in Soviet-type societies; Social solidarity or possible explanations for the lack of it under socialism; Ideological and cul­tural aspi­ra­tions (and their roots) of anti-regime move­ments in Soviet-type societies; Documenting human rights violations in order to aid reconciliation in post-conflict societies.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Applicants from EU Member State or of one of the candidate countries (the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Montenegro, Serbia or Turkey) are eligible for postgraduate scholarship.

Scholarship Description: Candidates who have received a bursary and pass their final examinations must undertake to sit an inter-institutional accreditation test and, if successful, to give the EU Institutions first call upon their services for a period of three years; DG Interpretation bursary is intended as a contribution towards study expenses, but not necessarily covering all costs. It can be combined with additional funds provided by the university, by the Member State or by other public or private bodies; DG Interpretation bursary holders may not benefit at the same time from other bursaries or allowances offered by the European Union. Abandoning the course voluntarily during the postgraduate year may make you liable to repay all or part of the bursary; Subsequent recruitment as a freelance interpreter by DG Interpretation depends on the applicant’s passing their final examinations and the relevant inter-institutional accreditation test; In awarding bursaries, DG Interpretation will endeavor to maintain an appropriate gender balance; Where the Master/postgraduate course is of more than one-year duration, only final year students will be eligible.

The amount of the bursary will be: 2.400 € for those studying in a member state; 1.600 € for those studying in a candidate country / non Member State The bursary will consist of one single payment. Abe Fellowship Program for International Multidisciplinary Research, 2014

The Social Science Research Council (SSRC), the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) and the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is inviting applications for the fellowship program. The fellowship is awarded to the citizens of the United States and Japan as well as to nationals of other countries to pursue research in the social sciences and related disciplines. Members of the American research community must spend at least one-third of the fellowship tenure in Japan. Members of the Japanese research community must spend at least one-third of the fellowship tenure in USA and applicants from other countries can pursue their research during the fellowship period in countries other than Japan and the USA.

Study Subject (s): Applicants are invited to submit proposals for research in the social sciences and related disciplines relevant to any one or any combination of the three themes below. The themes are:
-Traditional and non-traditional approaches to security and diplomacy: Appropriate research topics include transnational terrorism, internal ethnic and religious strife, infectious diseases, food safety, climate change, and non-proliferation, as well as the role of cultural initiatives in peace building.
-Global and regional economic issues: Suitable topics include regional and bilateral trade arrangements, international financial stability, globalization and the mitigation of its adverse consequences, sustainable urbanization, and environmental degradation.
-Social and cultural issues: Appropriate topics include demographic change, immigration, the role of civil society and media as champions of the public interest, social enterprise, corporate social responsibility, and revitalization of multi-cultural urban areas.

Scholarship Provider: The Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP)
Scholarship can be taken at: USA and Japan (Members of the American research community must spend at least one-third of the fellowship tenure in Japan. Members of the Japanese research community must spend at least one-third of the fellowship tenure in the U.S. Applicants from other countries can pursue their research during the fellowship period in countries other than Japan and the U.S.)

Eligibility:
-This competition is open to citizens of the United States and Japan as well as to nationals of other countries who can demonstrate strong and serious long-term affiliations with research communities in Japan or the United States.
-Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or the terminal degree in their field, or have attained an equivalent level of professional experience at the time of application.
-Previous language training is not a prerequisite for this Fellowship. However, if the research project requires language ability, the applicant should provide evidence of adequate proficiency to complete the project.
-Applications from researchers in professions other than academia are encouraged with the expectation that the product of the fellowship will contribute to the wider body of knowledge on the topic specified.
-Projects proposing to address key policy issues or seeking to develop a concrete policy proposal must reflect non-partisan positions.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: This competition is open to citizens of the United States and Japan as well as to nationals of other countries.

It strives especially to promote a new level of intellectual cooperation between the Japanese and American academic and professional communities committed to and trained for advancing global understanding and problem solving.

Number of award (s): Approximately 14 awards are made in a given year.

Duration of award (s): The program provides Abe Fellows with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 12 months of full-time support over a 24 month period. Fellowship tenure must begin between April 1 and December 31 of a given year. Fellowship tenure need not be continuous, but must be concluded within 24 months of initial activation of the Fellowship.

What does it cover? The amount of the Abe Fellowship is not fixed. It varies widely, depending on the details of the research plan and on whether the award includes salary replacement.

Fellows come from a variety of professional backgrounds and from early, middle, and late stages of their careers.Joint applications (two or more applicants for a single project) will not be accepted.

The Queensland Government, the Department of Education, Training and Employment offers early childhood teacher scholarships in Australia. The Scholarship Program is designed to upgrade the qualifications of three-year qualified teachers working in the early childhood education and care sector whose existing qualifications. The Queensland Government has committed that by 2014 all Queensland children will have access to a kindergarten program in the year prior to Prep. Eligible employees with a three year university qualification will be able to upgrade to a four year early childhood teaching qualification. Scholarship recipients will receive support and financial assistance from the Department to undertake the approved  part-time study program while maintaining their employment in an early childhood education and care service.

Study Subject(s): The identified study pathway program, Bachelor of Education (Inservice) is through the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Completion of the scholarship study pathway will enable these teachers to be recognised as early childhood teachers for the purposes of both the National Law and QKFS

Course Level: The scholarships will assist employees currently working in an approved centre-based long day care or kindergarten service, and who already hold a minimum three year Higher Education Institution (HEI) qualification, to upgrade their qualifications to the equivalent of a four year early childhood teaching qualification.

Scholarship Description: The Department of Education, Training and Employment is pleased to offer scholarships for current employees of early childhood education and care services to support them to upgrade their qualifications. The scholarships will assist employees currently working in an approved centre-based long day care or kindergarten service, and who already hold a minimum three year Higher Education Institution (HEI) qualification, to upgrade their qualifications to the equivalent of a four year early childhood teaching qualification. The information contained in this booklet is provided for people considering applying for an Early Childhood Teacher Scholarship and for their employers

Number of award(s): A maximum of 50 Early Childhood Teacher Scholarships will be awarded for this period of study.

Duration of award(s): scholarship offers for the period of study commencing in Semester 2, 2013 and concluding by the end of Semester 1, 2015. Scholarship recipients must undertake two years of continuous part-time study (4 semesters), commencing in Semester 2, 2013 and concluding at the end of Semester 1, 2015.

What does it cover? Scholarship recipients will be provided with a range of support directly related to the required study program including:
-payment of fees associated with enrolment in the study program, including student service fees; and
- study allowance of $500 per semester (maximum of $2,000 during the scholarship period) to assist with the purchase of textbooks, computer and internet access and other incidental costs associated with completing the study requirements.

Selection criteria: After the closing date, all written applications for an Early Childhood Teacher Scholarship will be reviewed and assessed by the Department. Scholarship applicants will be assessed on the basis of all information presented, including supporting statements and reports. Each application will be assessed, with particular consideration to the following:
- compliance with the scholarship eligibility criteria (refer page 3);
- relevance of previous qualifications and eligibility to undertake the identified study pathway with QUT;
-relevance of current and previous employment;
- commitment to working in the early childhood education and care sector;
- personal traits relevant to working in child care settings;
-reasons for wanting to undertake the scholarship;
-potential ability to effectively teach the kindergarten program;
- potential ability to apply learnings within the workplace;
- suitability to undertake postgraduate study; and,
level of employer commitment and support for applicant to undertake the required study program.
All applications will be assessed and ranked in order of merit, and offers of scholarships made to the most meritorious candidates, in accordance with the available quota.

Notification: It is anticipated that scholarship offers to successful applicants will on Monday, 8 July 2013 for the period of study commencing in Semester 2, 2013 and concluding by the end of Semester 1, 2015. Successful applicants will be forwarded a letter of offer of scholarship and formal Scholarship Agreement; however preliminary notification via email will precede the formal advice. Applicants must respond to the scholarship offer by Wednesday, 17 July 2013.
