A Bursary can be defined as a scholarship required to get admitted to a college or university at the lowest amount of funding. Bursaries are intended to facilitate those students who require it the most. Miscellaneous universities of Canada consider it a priority to address financial hardship that endangers students’ ability to continue their studies. Presently, various global universities and organizations remove the barriers of income level in part by providing and encouraging support for students via bursary. Following is the summarized list of available bursaries for international students to study in their home country or abroad.
Undergraduate Bursaries for UK/EU and Overseas Students
King’s College London is awarding five undergraduate bursaries in the field of Global Health & Social Medicine. All students applying to the Full Time undergraduate programmes listed above to begin in September 2014 are eligible for these bursaries, including UK, EU and Overseas students.  Five undergraduate bursaries will be awarded for the duration of the course. The application deadline is 15th January 2014.
Research Bursaries for UK/EU and Overseas Students
Cardiff University is offering a number of research bursaries within in the School of English, Communication and Philosophy. Applicants must be applying for a place on a full-time or part-time PhD programme in 2014/15. The awards will be provided on the basis of academic merit, taking into account past academic performance and future research potential. The application deadline is 2nd May 2014.
Cranfield PhD Bursaries in Management
Bursaries are available for pursuing PhD level at Cranfield School of Management in UK. These are open for UK, EU or international students which cover full fees and provide a maintenance grant. Bursaries are awarded on the basis of recruitment and selection process. These are renewed at the beginning of each academic year. Online application must be submitted by 28th March 2014.
Colt Foundation Bursaries
Colt Foundation is funding bursaries for master’s students in the field of physiology and health sciences at King’s College London. Students will be awarded a bursary of £1,500 towards the cost of the tuition fees. Online application deadline is 30 June 2014.
Postgraduate Bursaries at Nottingham Trent University
Bursaries are provided in the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences offered by Nottingham Trent University in UK. All bursaries are competitive and are assessed on the overall quality of the application including academic merit and personal statement. The bursaries will cover £1,000 fee reduction. Application should be submitted till 1st July 2014.
Department of Geography Masters Bursaries
Bursaries are available for pursuing master’s degree level at King’s College London in UK. The awards are made solely on academic merit, based on the information provided on applicant’s application form.  The Geography Department has two bursaries for Home/EU students and two bursaries for International/Overseas students. The application deadline is 31 May 2014.
Department of Statistics PhD Bursaries
The Department of Statistics of University of Warwick is offering PhD bursaries for UK/EU or overseas students in the UK. Two bursaries are offered for the duration of three years. The bursary will cover Home/EU or overseas academic fees as appropriate, plus a maintenance allowance of £13,726.  Application deadline is 13th January 2014.
Postgraduate Bursaries for African Students
Two bursaries are awarded for up to one year and are not renewable. Bursaries cover university and College fees, maintenance allowance, traveling allowance. Applicants for these Bursaries should have taken a first degrees, or equivalent, in their country of origin, and have not yet had a substantial period of study (more than 12 months) outside their own country. Online application deadline is 24 January 2014.
DLA Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Bursaries
DLA Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr is funding undergraduate bursary to law students. Candidates must complete the prescribed application form and submit all supporting documentation before the deadline. Bursaries are awarded on the basis financial merit, academic performance, proven excellence in any other field. Applications for 2015 bursaries close on 1 September 2014.
Curtin Canning College Science International Bursaries
The bursaries are available for pursuing undergraduate degree level at Curtin University in Australia. Five bursaries will be offered. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of merit. The bursary will provide cash payment of $500 per semester to assist with costs associated with studying for the normal expected duration of the degree for which the scholarship is offered. Application should be submitted till January 13, 2014.
TOTAL South Africa Bursaries
Bursaries are available for pursuing certificate, diploma or degree programme at an FET college or a university. The bursaries cover tuition fees, the cost of books, stationery and accommodation. Priority consideration for bursaries is given to previously disadvantage South African students who have successfully completed their Grade 12 with a university exemption. The closing date for bursary applications is 30 October each year for the following year’s intake.
