University of South Wales is inviting applications for Centenary Postgraduate Scholarships for full-time, taught Masters courses starting in the September 2014. UK and European Union graduates with a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) can apply for a non-means tested scholarship worth £1,500 or £2,000 (For University of South Wales Graduates including Polytechnic of Wales, University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport: £2,000 and for Non-University of South Wales Graduates: £1,500). Scholarships will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Eligibility: To qualify for a scholarship an applicant (Home or EU) will need to fulfill all of the following criteria. Successful applicants must:
-Ensure that their application reaches the Student Money Advice Team by the advertised deadline. Applicants and not the University (or its staff) are entirely responsible for meeting this element of the criteria.
-Gain a first class honours degree or an upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification (students with qualifications gained from outside the UK will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis)
-Be offered a place on an eligible full time taught Masters course, accept this offer and enrol on the course within the appropriate timeframe.
-Be paying the full Home/EU rate of Tuition Fee and studying the full 180 credits. Students undertaking less than 180 credits on a full time postgraduate degree will not be eligible to be considered for the scholarship, this includes students who are exempt from one or more modules due to Accredited Prior Achievement (APA) or Advanced Prior Learning (APL).
Further conditions: Graduates with a first class honours degree or an upper second class honours degree issued by the University of Glamorgan, Polytechnic of Wales or University of Wales Newport may apply for a scholarship of £2,000.
-Graduates with a first class honours degree or an upper second class honours degree from other Universities may apply for a scholarship of £1,500.
-You can apply for the scholarship before the announcement of your degree results but the scholarship will only be confirmed following acceptance by the student of a place on an eligible course, and provision of suitable evidence clearly demonstrating their first class or upper second class honours degree.
-Students with qualifications from outside of the UK will be dealt with on an individual basis.
-To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have a first class honours degree or an upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification. Equivalence will be determined by the University of South Wales whose decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
-Students repeating a postgraduate course at the University of South Wales will not be eligible for a scholarship. (Students granted mitigating circumstances by the University will be considered on an individual basis).
-Students who have previously received any payment from the University of Glamorgan or University of Wales Newport postgraduate scholarship, will not be eligible to apply for another scholarship to study a different eligible course.
-These scholarships are not payable with any other form of support from public funds e.g. directly from any other Welsh Government initiative or objective one funding/convergence, including funding from the Go Wales Graduate Training and Development Program.
-The first scholarship payment of £1,000 or £1,500 will be paid approximately 4 months after successfully enrolling and studying on the course. The remaining £500 will be paid after successful completion of the masters, within the standard time allowed. Applicants can request that their scholarship payments go directly towards paying off their tuition fees at the time of payment, or they can be paid byBACS directly into their nominated bank account.
-Applicants who would prefer that their scholarship is paid directly to their fees at the time of payment will need to discuss this option with the Universityâs Finance department in order to set up an appropriate payment plan for the remainder.

Duration of award(s): The scholarship applies to eligible full-time, taught Masters courses at the University of South Wales starting in the September 2014. The scholarship will be paid in cash by BACS to successful applicants, with a first installment payable approximately 4 months after enrolling and attending the course (pending a satisfactory attendance report) and confirmation from the University Finance Department that you have not defaulted on any arranged payment plans. A remaining £500 will be paid following successful completion of the Masters, normally within the standard time allowed. Students who enrol in August/September/October 2014 will be paid the first installment in February 2015.

How to Apply:Â Once you have been offered a place on an eligible course, you will be sent a link by email to apply online. Please allow up to two weeks for the email to be sent. Please note that University of South Wales scholarships are offered on the basis that they are potentially subject to change in the event of changes to the fee and student support regime applicable in Wales.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The applications deadline for the MSc Disaster Management for Environmental Hazards is 4.30 pm on Friday 1st August 2014. For students starting their course in September 2014, application must be received by no later than 4.30 pm on Friday 12th September 2014.
