Scholarship Description: University of the Arts LondonThe Avakian Design Scholarships aim is to promote excellence in design by financially supporting a BA student from Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design who are deemed to have the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the jewellery industries.The Avakian Design Scholarship recipient may be offered a six month paid internship at Avakian’s headquarters in Geneva following their graduation. The recipient shall not be obliged to accept the place. If for any reason the recipient is unable to attend an internship, the College will work with Avakian to select an alternative student to complete the internship. UAL shall have no liability for any costs payable by the recipient or donor costs relating to the internship.

What does it cover? The scholarship is valued at £15,000 for a Home/EU or International student. The scholarship will cover all tuition fees, plus a contribution towards maintenance.Fees will be paid directly from the award to the University’s Tuition Fees account and a maintenance allowance for course related costs will be paid directly to students.

Applicants will be required to bring their portfolio and examples of their work to the interview. Interviews will be  held at CSM 19th June 2013. Students shortlisted for interviews will be contacted by the University shortly after the application deadline. If you have not been notified for an interview then please assume your application has not been successful.All applicants will be informed of the final decisions in writing by the end of July. A letter will be sent to the correspondence address on the application form. You must inform us in writing if your address changes, so that we can contact you at the correct address.

Each year, the United States â€"India Educational Foundation (USIEF) offers fellowships for Indian citizens. Fellowships are offered for faculty, researchers and professionals to teach, conduct research or carry out a combination of teaching and research at a US institution. To be considered for these fellowships, applicants have a PhD degree or equivalent published work with at least five years of relevant teaching/research experience. These fellowships are for four to nine months. July 15, 2013 is the application deadline.

Scholarship Description: The Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowships aim to provide Indian faculty, researchers, and professionals the opportunity to teach, conduct research, or carry out a combination of teaching and research at a U.S. institution. Depending on the U.S. host institution, it is likely that the grantee may contribute towards developing curriculum and conducting workshops and seminars. These fellowships are for four to nine months.

What does it cover?  The fellowships provide round-trip economy class air travel, a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance. Subject to availability of funds,  in case of grantees on eight or nine month grants, a dependent allowance and international travel may be provided  for one accompanying dependent provided the dependent is with the grantee in the U.S for at least 80% of the grant period.

How to Apply: Unless otherwise specified, you are required to submit your completed application as an e-mail attachment. In addition, you should print a copy of your application and sign it. If you are not employed, please forward the signed copy to the USIEF office in your region. If you are employed, you should forward the signed copy of your application (including enclosures, if any) through the appropriate administrative authority, to the USIEF office within your region. In case of central or state government employees, the signed copy of your application should be forwarded through the cadre controlling authority so as to reach USIEF by the application deadline. For the final 12 months of the PhD, the student will return to Swansea University to complete the PhD. The World Health Organisation (WHO) figures from 2008 determined that ischemic heart disease followed by stroke is responsible for 23.6% of all global mortalities. The diagnosis and management of acute ischemic stroke is limited by the lack of rapid diagnostic assays for use in both an emergency and community-based setting. The ability to correlate blood-based protein biomarkers with stroke would aid in the development of such rapid diagnostics. This proposed programme of research would focus on the development of a point of care (POC) diagnostic system based on a silicon nanowire biosensor chip integrated with a micofluidic flow cell.

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is offering research fellowship for 2013-14. 3 to 4 fellowships  are offered up to $15,000 per award. The SCAR Fellowship programme is for PhD students or those within five years of having completed a PhD on the day of the deadline for applications to undertake research at an institute in one of the 37 SCAR Member countries. Applicants can pursue their research in any one of the member country different from that of the their origin and current residence. Candidates can apply via online till June 4, 2013.

Study Subject (s): Topics for support should make a contribution to the scientific objectives of SCAR as embodied in the Standing Scientific Groups and the current Scientific Research Programmes.
Course Level: This fellowship is available for pursuing research at an institute in one of the 37 SCAR Member countries.

Eligibility:
-Current PhD researcher or 5 years from finishing PhD students can apply for this fellowship.
-Students should contribute to the objectives of one or more of the Standing Scientific Groups and current Scientific Research Programmes endorsed by SCAR.
-The SCAR Fellowship programme is for PhD students, or those within five years of having completed a PhD on the day of the deadline for applications, to undertake research at an institute in one of the 37 SCAR Member countries. In special cases (e.g. maternity/paternity leave), this five-year period may be extended.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The citizens of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Denmark, Monaco, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania and Venezuela can apply for the fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The SCAR Fellowships are intended to allow researchers to undertake short-term visits to major international laboratories, field facilities or institutes in or operated by SCAR member countries, so as to become acquainted with recent advances in research and to develop long-term scientific links and partnerships. The work must be carried out in a research group of a SCAR member country different from that of the applicant’s origin and current residence. Its major objective is to initiate, develop, and co-ordinate high-quality international scientific research in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean region, and on the role of the Antarctic region in the Earth system.

Number of awards (s): 3 to 4 fellowships  are offered.

What does it cover? Awards will be up to US$15,000, providing, as needed, economy-class round-trip travel and a modest subsistence allowance for the fellowship period. The Fellow’s home institute will bear all expenses incurred in his or her home country (domestic travel, visa costs, etc.) and the host institute will waive any bench fees that they might normally charge trainees.

Selection Criteria: The SCAR Executive Officer will evaluate all proposals on the basis of the scientific excellence of the proposed research. This evaluation will also take into consideration factors such as:
-its importance, timeliness and achievability within the time frame allotted;
-the extent to which links have already been established with the proposed host country;
-the extent to which it will strengthen the scientific research capacity of nations with smaller or less well-developed Antarctic research programmes;
-its ‘fit’ with SCAR’s place in science and with SCAR’s scientific directions; and for COMNAP, its fit with COMNAP’s goals and objectives.

How to Apply: All proposals must be made on the appropriate forms, and submitted online through the Online Application page.
The proposal texts should make it absolutely clear what activities will be carried out, what will be achieved, what deliverables will ensue (e.g. papers, technologies), at what cost, and in what time frame. Guidelines for preparing the proposal are given on the Research Proposal sheet.
In order to apply, candidates will be required to first contact and liaise with appropriate host Antarctic projects or programmes in order to secure the support and mentorship of an active research team capable of including them in their own research programme.
Elements of the Application:
Research Proposal â€" Prepared following the guidelines given in the Research Proposal section of the Application Pack. The Applicant must have the Research Proposal (with relevant appendices) as a single document, ready to be uploaded during the application process;
-Applicant to send  Cover note 1 to the Home Institute Referee, and the Referee to return it to the Applicant, along with the reference letter, as a single document, ready to be uploaded during the application process;
-Applicant to send  Cover note 2 to the Host Institute Referee, and the Host to return it to the Applicant, ready to be uploaded during the application process;
-Online Application Form â€" to be completed by the Applicant by the deadline of 4th June 2013.
It is the Applicant’s responsibility to make sure that all parts of the application (Research Proposal, Home Reference and Host Agreement) are completed and received by them before beginning their online application.
